Hey A’s!
Hope you’re all enjoying the spring so far. 2011 has
flown by; we’re already just one full week away from the start of our
record-setting season. That’s right – our first game against the Muckrakers,
from the Center for Public Integrity, takes place next Tuesday, May 24,
2011. I expect to see all of you out there to carry on the glorious A’s
tradition of stomping on our first opponent of the season.
The game will likely be played near DuPont circle, or more
accurately, on the fields right off 23rd Street at P. At least
that’s where we played last year. There’s a chance we could be down on
the mall; if that’s the case, I’ll let you all know asap. I’ll handle
beers for this week, which reminds me, I’m still looking for volunteers.
Please consider sponsoring the team’s libations for a week.
Let me know if you plan on playing. Since this
is the first game of the season I don’t think I have a good idea of who to
expect. I will head out as early as possible on Tuesday afternoon to
start to get warmed up, since I haven’t really thrown a ball since last
September; everyone is welcome to join me. We’ve got gloves, bats, balls,
and bases so you really only need to bring your smiling face. Or your
frowny face. Whatever floats your boat.
If anyone is interested in a small scrimmage this weekend,
let me know. I likely won’t be able to make it due to prior commitments
but I can help set you all up to play and get in shape before the first game.
If you’re down, let me know which day and time works for you.
Also – if you want a jersey, please let me know asap.
I’d like to order them soon so we get them early in the season.
